I saw your latest video on turning handles for chisels but I would love to do some for screw drivers but I cannot locate any without the handles and it’s impossible to break the hardened plastic handles to replace them with nice wooden ones. Any ideas on how I can achieve my goal.

I’m in the process of making a split-nut screwdriver and made the driver part from a spade bit. I sawed the end off with a hacksaw, then used files to get the fit I needed. Worth considering if you’re in a pinch or need a weird shape bit.
George.
22 August 2014 at 1:00 pm #61537George I don’t know why I never thought of it what a great idea hack sawing it off I could then just use epoxy to secure it tightly into the handle.
Greg I had a look at the link you posted most of it’s unavailable besides the tiny little screws I have for the clocks the rest are in mm so the lee valley ones wouldn’t be of any use to me.
Thanks guys for a quick response.
22 August 2014 at 11:14 pm #61551I had two craftman they where a real mess . I cut a slot top down on both sides. Ithen took a coal chisel and tried to split it off no luck. I then took it outside on the concreat and smaked it with a 5lb hand sleg the case poped off clean
I cut some slits in the shafat with my dremal tool and exopied it in the new handles. They have held up for about three years. I was told to freeze them and the molded handles will brake up if hit hard? Worth a try?23 August 2014 at 12:48 am #61556Frank that is an excellent suggestion but I don’t have a sledge hammer, bro you need to re read your post before posting as I had to decypher it. I think faster than I type that is why I read my post before posting. You can find posts of mine when I didn’t and I couldn’t make sense of it. lol
Just keep em coming I could learn a lot from you.
23 August 2014 at 1:51 am #61559Sorry guys I do hold a PHD but a few years ago a drunk driver introduced him self. I got a three month vacation in comatost land. Lost most use of one eye. I need cruches to walk and shake. I also can flow things up at times. But I never stop My littel shop produces some very nice items. Chess sets small tables ect. Its what I love to do. Oh to type this took over 15 min. To keep going back clear extra letters. Aand fix it. But that is that. I love Pauls teaching he isn’t trying to sell the latest thing. He takes time to explane thing in more than one way. He is the best teacher I ever met.

23 August 2014 at 10:44 pm #61581How are you doing with the new handles?
And that drawing you posted. I started a plough plane today I have wanted one so as usual I make it. I love working with tools I make.
Frankj24 August 2014 at 6:46 am #61588I just got back from my second job I will make the handles soon I have other projects and orders to finish first. Right now I decided to clean out the garage but I’ve been delayed constantly today with visits from friends just when I thought it was over I get another call from my other friends coming over. lol So mnot much work is going to be done today.
24 August 2014 at 9:07 pm #61598That was a good idea George i made a screwdriver for my planes today out of a 25mm spade drill bit. I made the handle out of a piece of maple shaped mainly with a rasp , the ferule was made out of a pice of copper pipe.
I will post a picture when attaching photos is sorted25 August 2014 at 2:40 am #61614Yes, that works. I’ve made 2 screwdrivers for saws (wide and thin slitted screws): one regular and another for split screws. Then epoxied the shaft into the wooden handle, but before that I have made some hacksaw cuts on the shaft to give more adherence to the epoxy glue.
