Software Engineer here. I expect this is technically feasible, but there’s opportunity cost. I agree, I’d be nice to be able to watch on my Apple TV directly. But it’s not difficult for me to airplay it and I’d personally rather see time/money spent on content than scratching that particular itch.
That being said, I expect this site is built on a customized CMS. It’s possible that CMS has plugins that would allow easy generation of Apple TV markup (TVML). At that point it’d just be a matter of releasing an app. But that’s a lot of hypotheticals and still a non trivial number of new things to maintain that doesn’t directly create new content.
Would be nice though!
Edit: On further investigation, it looks like the site is WordPress powered and someone has built the plugin I thought might exist. Looks like it’s early in development, but this might not be a ton of work if they chose to go down that road. Unclear if the plugin handles authentication though, which would be required since it’s a subscription service.
