You could, but I personally find cedar to be brittle and soft. Maybe you could make the frame out of cedar and use something harder for the top. If your cedar is fairly dense it shoukd work. I made my first bench out of pine and it’s great, so if your cedar is as dense as a 2×4 wall stud, it’ll be a fine bench.
