I work my day job. Monotonous…exhausting…too stressful. I go home. I eat. I feed my family. I do my expected chores.
Then, I open my shop and a new light brightens my life. Engaging…creative…skillful…enriching. New things take shape from skillful use of old tools that are as good as any modern machine. I close the shop. I retire for the night. My eyes close…I sleep…wishing for a dream to take me back to the light, again.
I’ve discovered the same (except I actually do enjoy my day job). It’s nice to wind down, thinking about and making something with my own hands. Not having to worry too much about life outside the garage. When I turn out the lights and go to bed, I sleep well.
It’s also nice to be able to do something that relatively few people are capable of these days.
