Done a bit more to my box.
The mortise holes have been quite tricky as they are pretty small and hard to get any leverage to get waste out.
I am going to make a fielded panel with little quirks.
Also the frame will have chamfer with quirks. So no 78 rebate plane will come into play. I’ll have to make sure little nicker sharp for going across grain.Attachments:

Just a bit slow.
I think if I can get another full day at it.
My box will be ready for hinges and I’m also thinking of fitting a lock. When I get time is the question.
My original plan was box for my hand router.
As it is turning out better than I thought not so sure now.23 November 2013 at 8:53 pm #22147Very nice Mark. Is that a bevel and chamfer on the rails and stiles or did you sneak in a lambs tongue detail?
23 November 2013 at 11:37 pm #22158I think I may of shot a door or two before and fitted skirting and architraves. I have not done any joinery with Ash before.
28 November 2013 at 1:43 pm #22513I am making a tray to go in side box.
I had just finished marking my Dovetails out and made saw cuts on tails. Then My other arf called me in from shed to look something she wanted to get on ebay.
When I went back out to shed picked up chisel and stated to chop. Arg !!!! I chopped the tails out instead of the pin sockets. Really peed me off especially when everything milled by hand Sawn, planed edges square, and ends shot square on shooting board.
In future I will not let Mrs distract me when doing Dovetails. Got to blame someone lol
Now I have got to mill some more Ash.
I have bought some brass hardware for my box. A lock and quadrant hinges escutcheon will be used I think out of this lot for my box. The rest will come handy for future projects.
This lot in picture Cost over £60 why do small things cost so much 🙁Attachments:

Now I have got to put rebate on the bottom for base also I am going to divide tray into quarters. So a few stopped housings will come into play plus a sort of half lap joint.Attachments:
