Several months ago I posted pictures of the prototype that I built of the barrister bookcase. It was in pine. This is the completed commissioned piece done in quarter sawn oak. This piece measures 7’1″ tall and 35″ wide. I built it to fit a specific space in the customer’s house. I am sorry that this photo is with dirty glass but it is the only one I have until I can go back and photograph the bookcase in place with books.

Hi Matt,
Yes it is much larger than it appears in the picture. I made it out of white oak then rubbed with Danish Oil with a walnut coloring. Five applications of shellac then hand rubbed with soft wax. By the way, it is a whole lot heavier than it looks in the picture as well. Customer wanted in an up stairs room.Dan

?6 November 2016 at 4:41 am #142221Nice piece, love the clean lines and plinth design. I understand it was built to fit a client’s space, however to my taste of proportion it would have stopped at four sections. Of course, the in-situ look and functionality is what counts. Great job, thanks for sharing.
