As Ken said really, I’m very happy with the Quangsheng planes I have purchased, they feel quality.. When they are new though I find I still reach for my old Stanleys and Records , I like keeping them look new ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks guys. I’m going to get a no: 7 then
I have already replaced old irons and chip breakers in some of my Stanley and Record planes for Quangsheng replacements. Very nice quality.

I am in the same boat, gentlemen. I’ve been gradually filling out my essential tool list and have thus far escaped too much trouble with the explanation that I *need* these tools…but I’m quickly reaching the end of that road. I shall have to find another way to rationalize my tool obsession!

My problem is that they don’t make a lot of these tools anymore and the new ones are really expensive so when I see something I need/want. I panic and have to have it because I am afraid I won’t be able to get one again. There are two guys I have seen online within 2 hours who apparently have loads of quality old tools so that might ease my mind but I am sure their prices are high but until I am able to see it with my own eyes any local finds are hard to walk away from.
Recently I visited a garage sale and purchased more than I wanted… they forced me to take some garbage but collateral to negotiate a 12″ disston tenon saw in my pile for $5CAD but I don’t know what to do with the junk I had to buy to sneak it. I might take it to my favorite affordable local guy and give it to him for cheap as my relationship continues to grow.

I now have bought some small marples carving chisels and some slip stones. I have got some slip stones but for the life of me I cannot find them.
I have also bought an old Disston brass backed tenon saw ๐Ÿ™‚

Nice but I hope you know that they are not the same spec, and quality as sold by workshop heaven, or Peter Sefton.

    Quote
Not all Quangsheng planes sold, are of equal quality or specification. Those provided by Peter Sefton and Workshop Heaven are of the highest specification and quality. This is not always the case with certain suppliers which provide lower spec Quangsheng products.

    Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

Yep I read about spec differences,
review by Rutlands customer said [Fantastically made with a flatness in it length better tan 0.0015″ or 0.04mm solid heavy and very nicely finished]
At the price I got it for if I got to fettle a little so be it.

I was once told that if I wanted friends, just buy a boat.

So on that note, I think we should all hang out at Mark’s place this weekend!!

Congratulations Mark, it is always exciting to get new tools. Where is the picture?
