George very nice refinements to your bench, it is looking good. I was hoping to have spent more time in the shop this past week working on some refinements to my bench, but a severe Sinus Infection kept me out of the shop.
Thanks for sharing !

14 January 2014 at 11:27 pm #25963Hello George and Steve, I was admiring your bench mods and wondering how you find the under bench storage. Does it get in the way of work or clamping, is it a dust collector, does it blacken your shins, etc.
I recently finished a bench and started a few projects but the clutter is driving me crazy. I built in a shelf on one side of the shelf which helps and would like to fit drawers when upto standard.Thank you both for the blogs which are excellent by the way,

15 January 2014 at 8:53 pm #26026Hi John
I utilise under bench storage See post 2093 above I am just in the process of making another tool cabinet half the size of the existing one that will also sit under my bench, I find it the ideal storage for my tools everything is close at hand and it adds extra weight to by bench giving extra stabilityWigan, Lancs. 15 January 2014 at 10:51 pm #26031That’s a nice tidy unit David, well made (I zoomed up the pic). The locking door is a very good idea. I started a sliding tool holder so I’ll finish that first – I’ll post a pic when done. Makes sense to use all the space available, so it’s on the to-do list. Thanks David.

20 January 2014 at 12:13 am #26251Thank you every one for the encouragement, I genuinely wasn’t expecting such a response. It’s not big, holds enough and slides beautifully while lifting off easily. The items are very closely spaced maybe at a minimum. Anyway attached are my project notes which hopefully are legible as I have to use a paper which sometimes scans poor. I made a glue up but I think it needs a few joints for strength. Keep updating,
John J

20 January 2014 at 11:20 pm #26283Sorry I missed these replies. John, the under bench storage doesn’t get in the way at all. It’s handy as a place to put barely used items.
I love the rack you made. Very clever!
George.

20 January 2014 at 11:47 pm #26286Thank you NikonD80 and Jay, I appreciate you’re compliments and I hope you get good use out of it. I’ll just have to steal some of your ideas to balance things as I progress.
