Looks like a very well made chest job well done I know you are making it foe somebody else and I take it the white finish is their choice but personally I think it looked so much better in the natural wood finish

I Agree with David shame to paint but in the end if that’s what customer wants that’s what they will get.18 December 2014 at 4:53 am #122285This is looking really good Antonio! I’m sure that your wife’s friend is gong to love it.
Thanks guys!
I think the same way. I prefer to “see” the wood. The paint is a water base one (EU eco-label) from “AKI/LEROY MERLIN” – a big chain of stores across continental europe. I could’t found Milk paint around here… just in the internet for importing + taxes from costums….€€€€
I manage to “sell” the interior will bee lemon shellac with wax.
And my wife is getting some ideas….
Its been a while since I update this post…
I blame my wife! (some boxes for gifts and new ideas)
Because I simply just love/hate her ideas! (I do love her and the ideas because it push me, and push and pus forward)My fault, I show her some photos of Greg’s, Peter Follansbe’s and others work!
So she came up with the idea of a “carved lid”. I DON’T know how to carve, I just saw some videos of Mary May’s on line school!
So from a internet photo, I processed and printed.
And with a lot of help from my older step-son here is where I stand!Attachments:

1º A basic set of propercarving gouges is out of my budget. But I found a litle set for 5€ (it came from a chinese shop/ 1 dollar shop) My thinking was maybe I can grind those bevels. So I did. And it’s (slow) coming along. 🙂
2ª My wife was holding information from me. I discovered that “my custumer/her co-worker/friend) was indeed my wife. When she started to see with her own eyes the bench she liked so much. She did’t told me because She wanted to suport my work 🙂
3º the chest is now in it’s place, our bedroom
I must speed up the lid!

I was out of my mind when I agreed with this.
One thing is put some details the other is something like this big.Remember this lid is made of pine…so…It’s been more like a sharpening lesson.
Belive me You’ll know sharp when you’ll need to do precision cuts in pine. That soft/hard rings are a “great lesson”.And my back and neck. It hurts… a LOT
Done with the complains. 🙂
It’s great seeing the leavs emerge.
A final note. I try to cheat by reaching my “dremel ALDI brand twin” and… I foun it was awkward, noisier, and much slower than with the chisel and gouges. How about that? 🙂

I dont forum too much I cant stop building long enough to take the time to type. lol Hey I wonder If someone over in the UK would not mind maybe Buying Paul a new chalk box and send it to him. I would be more than happy to pay for it just give me an address on pay pal where to send the money. If you saw the latest videos on preparing stock for the trestle Table that He is getting ready to build you would know what Im talking about. I thought that might be funny gesture anyway. I cant recall ever seeing one that leaked so bad before.
How did you join the panels on the chest, Ship Lap, T & G or how , Just curious. Is it a Mud Room Bench where you sit to remove your shoes or what was going to be the purpose. It’s looking really great. Nice Job.Thanks for the comment.
Making some “donations” to Paul’s it’s a good idea 🙂
About the panels:
The lid panel was a simple joint and I add 2 breadhead joint on top.
The panels on the main box were tong and groove. I bought pre-maid 1cm boars for it.António
