I do like this bookcase and the way you do it. It is not a criticism of any kind, just a consideration; From the pictures I can’t figure out for sure the proportions of the cross on the sides of the bookcase. Maybe this element would look still better if the horizontal beam were the same width as the vertical.
    Good luck.

That is very interesting Misha as the front door will have the cross elements of the same size.

I must have come to the same conclusion as you.

As promised I have attached a pic of the shelf pins that I am using

This looks really nice, so nice that I’m not sure if it is still the prototype. If it’s the prototype, one choice is whether you reverse the rails and stiles on the top. The choice is whether you want to see the haunch from the front, as you have it now, or if you want a continuous front edge, and see the haunch from the side. Having it on the front separates the two haunches, while having them closer together on the narrower side might make them stand out more and affect how you see the side. I can’t decide which I prefer…Maybe, as you have it now.

Thanks for that – I’m going to be making a small cabinet with panelled sides soon and that looks like a good option for the adjustable shelves.

    Progress shots of the bookcase.
The prototype has morphed into my tool cabinet
Here with the door fitted and without

    It comes out great!
Without the door it doesn’t lose its attraction. ( Doors with panes would be a very good idea in my opinion.)

    Thank you Misha
Took a while but was great fun
And yes, I prefer frame and panel over board construction any day

looks great as a tool cabinet, if you added doors it would protect them from dust as well, could easily be converted into a very nice wardrobe as well, lots of possibilities with the design.
