    Today I finally finished the bookshelf I started back in June. I’m not 100% happy with it, I can see all the little imperfections, and I’m sure some of the joints, and the arches would make Paul shudder if he saw them up close.

    That said, I’m happy with it, and it’s been accepted as a “good job” by She who must be obeyed.

    I think it looks good.

    I think all of us often feel the same way about our projects. We know where every imperfection is which makes us too hard on ourselves. It’s us how we learn and motivates us to do better.

    No one else knows where all the little flaws in the project are. They only see the beauty of the whole.

    Don’t be too hard on yourself, i think it looks really good. All the joint look tight and i didn’t notice the arch until you pointed it out. Believe me, Paul’s seen much, much worse. 🙂

    Good job on the bookshelf. Looks nice from where I’m sitting.

    Being told “good job” by your better half is the greatest reward.

    Thanks folks.

    I am quite impressed. The joints are tighter after glue up than they seemed before. The biggest things are ones I doubt anyone else would notice, the dado that I got a bit eager on before I got the router plane, so it came through the top a little, and then threw off the level of the top. The bottom arch is very suspect if you look at it from the back or underneath. But anyone doing that deserves a bit of interest!

    It’s far better than anything I could buy, just for the fact I made it myself.

    @jude
    , you are not far wrong.

    Now, on with the list of other things I need to make before Christmas!

    Hi,
    That is a nice looking bookshelf.
    We will always find mistakes with our work. It is what will drive us to do better.
    The best part of the project is that you made it with your own hands and the gift is appreciated evermore by the recipient.

    Keep the shavings coming.

    Nice going Nevinxxx. I think it looks good. Like the others have said, you’re probably the only one who will ever know that any mistakes are there. This bookshelf will probably outlast you and the recipients. Great satisfaction in that.
