This is kind of a take on the poor man’s rebate plane. I found this shoulder plane on Amazon for $15 but had a gift card so actually got it for free. I didn’t need a shoulder plane but thought it might make a decent rebate plane if I added a fence.
I need to work on the fence a bit but for a little experiment in the shop worked fairly well.

Matthew, What is the brass thumb screw for?

It’s hard to see in that picture but the body is two pieces and you can use that thumb screw to adjust the mouth opening.
