Anybody have any recommendation for some quality, reasonably priced carving chisels.
A friend want’s me to make him a football club emblem out of wood. I wan’t to create something similar to the stone carved emblem in the attached photo in wood.

I have also used Hirsch and Two Cherries, I have no complaints with either and they are a bit less expensive. Flexcraft makes some decent ones as well, and with a lower price, but they are not as good as the others. I also have a set of Faithful carving gouges, they are inexpensive, and will require some work on your part to get them in good cutting condition, but I know Paul has used and recommended them in the past.
That is the extent of my personal experience, hope that is some help.
I also want to get into carving at some point. While I haven’t started yet, I did find this article that I thought was helpful regarding selecting a starting set of tools.

Thanks Steve I’ll check out some of those brands on Ebay. I’ve had a look on there before but without any recommended brands it’s hard to know. They all claim it quality but sell them dirt cheap so it can be hard to trust them. I’ll check out that article Jay.
