I made a small computer desk, Shaker style. The legs and aprons are cherry. Thinking about a pine top. I know the Shakers did this, but I’m unsure about the look. Any insight? Anybody have any pics?28 December 2017 at 6:36 pm #420265

Hey thanks. I totally forgot I posted this. I did. Went with a cherry top. I have a love hate relationship with pine.

That looks really good.
I’ve been trying to settle on style/design for my daughters homework desk. I think you leaned me to shaker style. If only I was confident enough to do a hinged lift-up desktop and incorporate storage ….1 March 2018 at 11:49 am #487528
Thanks. I have 2 daughters too. They’re both asking for small desks too. I think I will do something similar to this. I really like the Shaker style. And cherry always looks good and is a good price. Do mine, I think Ill do a center drawer…..keep me posted on what you come up with.
Questioning yourself about your ability keeps you from progressing. I know because I do it all the time. Just do it.1 March 2018 at 11:53 am #487531

This is really beautiful in its clean lines and simplicity. Do you happen to know about how many board feet of cherry you used?7 March 2018 at 1:36 am #491575
Sorry I can’t remember. It’s 24x19x30. 7/8” aprons. 1” top.
