Degreasing a Vise Screw

I just got my vise and I noted that it needs to be degreased. What do you guys recommend?
Non-chlorinated brake cleaner and an old tooth brush are what I used. Re-lubricate the screw with wax or a dry lubricant such as PTFE or molybdenum disulphide.
