Hey Guys,
Just finished up my bench not too long ago and was wondering if you have any suggestions on the spacing and location of dog holes to place on the bench. I’ve included pictures because I undersand if there are no pictures – it didn’t happen.

Anonymous1 February 2013 at 12:28 am #7270Thanks, Robin. I have a Jorgenson vise 4×7 the jaw space is about 8inches
Drill the holes as you need them is what I was told. I’ve found that two holes spaced 9 inches apart at either end the bench and two holes perpendicular the the center of my vice is all I’ve needed so far. 9 inches because my benchtop is 12 inches so each hole is 1 1/2 inches from the edge.

Assuming you want as few holes in your bench-top as possible, with 8 inches of travel in you vise, you should be able to clamp anything as long as the holes are at most 7 inches (or less) from center to center. You could always add a new hole if you needed it. But I think evenly spaced holes would look nicer.
