I purchased 18 pieces of Douglas fir from Home Depot today and as expected it is wet wood, so I stacked it on pieces of smaller lumber as shown in the attached photograph. I chose the top of my picnic table inside my hot greenhouse as the location, and tomorrow I intend to go out and paint the cut ends of the 2×4’s to limit checking on the ends. If anyone sees or knows of anything I am doing wrong please let me know. Thanks.
Most picnic tables are not flat and any deviation from the top may be transferred to the wood as it dries.
Also, different areas have different issues with drying. If it is cool, you want a warmer area to dry it, her in California, I need to SLOW the drying as we are both hot and dry. So, if you need warmth the greenhouse will speed up drying, if you its hot anyway, it may be too fast.
Other than that, the boards look well stickered.
