I was making the dovetail box with the sliding lid. I cut the pieces and then cut all the dovetails. They all came out pretty decently. I was so excited about this that I did the glue up right away. Got all the clamps on, made sure it was all nice and square, all just lovely.
Then I realized that I’d forgotten to cut the inner groove for the lid.
I probably have done each mistake several times. I did the same with my first sliding lid dovetail box. The best dovetails I ever made…ever! Promptly glued it up, continued watching the episode and realized I didn’t run the groove. Tried to take it apart but the molecular bond was already formed! I sure tried to get that thing apart. Amazingly how fast the glue set.
