I was able to get a nice trunk (40cm/15in in diameter) and few branches from freshly cut down tree. It was already cut to about 2m long pieces when my mother-in-law found it. It still has a bark on. All faces were painted with an oil paint and now I have no idea how to proceed. Some people are saying to debark it ASAP and saw it before winter, others are saying to leave it with bark in not-so dry place and leave it for few years and only then to cut it to planks. I really have no idea how to proceed now. Please help 🙂

I think slab it up , sticker it someplace flat and cover it to keep it dry. If cut up the bark would not matter. Keep the ends painted.
