@edfly I sold my Arkansas stones on ebay for more than what I paid for them retail. Unfortunately Ebay and Paypal fees ate all profits that I made in the sale. I still felt bad about the sale, so I made up a strop and sent some chromimum oxide with the stones. Ebay is one strange place!!

Got them off Amazon.com back in March of 2013. I see they are a little higher now at 60/45/45. Just do a search for eze-lap on their site.
15 January 2015 at 12:56 pm #123554does anyone know the difference between the 81 range and the 86 range as i seem to have bought one of each by mistake.
15 January 2015 at 3:53 pm #123560just had word back from eze lap the only difference is the 86 comes with a pouch for storage and the 81 has little rubber feet to prevent slippage on the bench
21 January 2015 at 2:18 am #123719The power of suggestion, Its amazing or is it Amazon? I ordered the knife and the hammer from Amazon UK and the shipping as free all the way to florida. If your a Regular customer of Amazon I think most everything I buy is free anyway. I buy my polish from them to polish up my saws and anything else that needs it. Belated commit. Sorry
21 January 2015 at 10:15 am #123725i like that shipping price, see companies can do it(free) if they want to, but i think most of them use it as a way of upping their price.
I’ll do some research on the items that are only available in the USA. Perhaps we can get an “exchange program” going so it will be easier on all of us on both sides of the pond as they say. I’ll let everybody know what I come up with that should be of interest to all.
21 January 2015 at 4:52 pm #123739
Also, I forgot to mention: Even with eBay’s International shipping service, it seems that many sellers are still hesitant to ship overseas. How can we overcome this?
That’s a people problem. To get tracking on an international order, the price goes up a lot. Buyers won’t pay for tracking and go for the cheapest option. They then claim the item was never received and, because the buyer wouldn’t pay for tracking, the seller can’t prove it was delivered. They’re then forced to reimburse the buyer or get negative feedback.
I don’t know if the new international seller scheme does anything to change this.
George.
I just bought the EZE-LAP:
EZE-LAP 81C 3 by 8 Coarse Diamond Stone
EZE-LAP 81F 3 by 8 Fine Diamond Stone
EZE-LAP 81SF 3 by 8 Super Fine Diamond Stonefrom AmazonSmile.com (note the “smile” is a part of Amazon that lets you donate to a charity… which I highly recommend as a convenience if you have a favorite charity).
They were all about $50 USD each (the coarse was a little more). They were sold by Amazon.com LLC and so Free Shipping (which is for items that cost more then $35 for the order… unless you have Amazon Prime). Looks like they still have them in stock. They work very well. I made a wood base similar to Paul’s pattern, but I added a piece of leather on the side which I may use for a strop someday. Note, these all have those little rubber feet, which I just left on and pushed down in the wood recess. It made them very snug and I can still take them out if needed. I don’t know if this is technically a good approach but it works great for me and all my planes and chisels are good and sharp!
