@daveg – Thanks David. I used the same finish on my dining chairs. I like the way the Doug fir looks with it.
@smassiesr – St. Cloud is not too far from where I lived in Melbourne. I was just looking at the map – there’s a huge number of lakes around St. Cloud. I hope the mosquitoes aren’t too bad (not to mention the heat and humidity).

Those buzzy critters haven’t been to bad, they do a good job on Mosquito control here. Yes we have a ton of lakes makes for great fishing but have to be careful of the Gators, we do have a few of them. They are not bashful at all, we also have a few bears and wild hogs, plenty of deer as well. I live on the out skirts of St. Cloud, actually I live in the last subdivision of the City before it is county which is a cross the street.
It is very peaceful here and can hear Airboats day and night here.

I really have to get a gouge chisel. Your stool looks great–I really want to make one for my workstation but am not sure which to get (brand/size/etc.). I haven’t had much luck shopping for used ones. Any pointers anyone? Thanks.19 July 2016 at 9:58 pm #138630Matt McGraneParticipant
@dbockel2 – I don’t really know much about gouges. I bought the gouge based on a Sellers recommendation. It is an Ashley Iles #7 “sweep”, 1 1/4″ wide gauge that I bought from Tools For Working Wood ($53) a couple years ago.
