I have made a number of spreaders as Paul described and of my own design. Oil makes them look okay but not spectacular. I put four coats of salad bowl varnish on them and they look great! as I feared, it wears down fairly quickly at the edges.
Does anybody have a suggestion for a “bulletproof” finish for this small task?
In one of Paul’s projects, he point out that abrupt, sharp angles don’t readily absorb finish. His solution was to slightly round the corners (angles).
