Danish oil is probably the easiest and will keep the wood a natural color or you can get a colored Danish oil… With Danish oil you would also need to add a top coat, like a wipe on polyurethane Also, shellac is an excellent option. Paul has a how to video on applying shellac

I enjoy using Danish oil as well. I usually apply 2 coats and will sometimes apply a wood wax on top of it. The wax will just add a silky smooth texture without changing the color. You will typically have to apply it (the wax) again every 6-8 months though
