Kept trying to decide what to make my first project (not counting rehabilitating Ebay tools 🙂 ).
Was going to start with the workbench, but I have a rudimentary one (though it’s very wobbly!), so I figured better to make a place to start organizing my tools.
Looking forward to further projects here,
in-between part-time work and engineering school that is.

8 January 2014 at 1:09 am #25484Thanks for the greetings everybody.
Thanks for the heads up on the BLO rags Eddy. Fortunately for me my dad almost burned down the garage when I was a kid by not properly disposing of similar, so I got the benefit of his experience! They went straight into the fireplace.

12 January 2014 at 2:29 pm #25793Good job on the tote. I thought I was the only one with a wobbly bench. I am slowly working on a Paul Seller type bench, but like you working out projects with what I have.
Jason, welcome to the Forum and great job on your first project. This is a vibrant and really smart group of woodworkers who are very supportive and knowledgable about the craft. Seeing everyones work and the development of their skills (and their shops) is lots of fun.
12 January 2014 at 4:50 pm #25803Welcome Jason , the tote looks good I would suggest that the clock could be a good project to try next
12 January 2014 at 6:15 pm #25814Thanks for the welcome John, Denise, and David. David, I was thinking about trying out the clock build. If I did though I would want to tinker with the dimensions of the plans a bit to accommodate a larger clock face, so as to have more of a from-a-distance wall clock.
Haha John, ya gotta do with whatcha got. My dad was over to our house yesterday helping me with some plumbing issues. He looked at my wobbly bench and suggested bracing across the back. I was thinking I would use some 2×6 I have lying around and make an apron for the back and sides of the bench. Perfect time to practice some dovetails that won’t get seen too much!
Jason, welcome. The tote looks good. You’ll find lots of uses for them and so will your friends and family. The tote is a good pre project for the clock. It takes those dados another step. Thanks for posting. It’s always nice to see what everyone else is building.
