This was a quick fun project made from home center 2×4 scrap. The top was laminated from three pieces and painlessly brought to the desired thickness using a Stanley No. 4 set up as a scrub plane (as per Paul’s video). This piece also acted as a test bed for a Brown Mahogany Transtint dye that I am thinking of using on some other projects.

Nice, Martin. And it’s already getting tested by inspector numbers 3 and 4. If the stool can pass that inspection, you know it’ll last a lifetime.
Hi Gary,
The dye turned out better than I expected, so I will probably use on more projects. Makes my day when the models come to visit.
Hi Matt,
LOL, I think it has passed inspection. It was funny how they gravitated to something made to their scale and claimed ownership.
Hi Frank,
Thanks, it was a fun project made even better with the kids reactions.
stool turned out great, but I think you may have to make one more. two models, two stools.
Nice to see the kids enjoying it…
You mentioning that the kids gravitated to something their size made me remember: At my Grandmother’s house in the late 50’s, there was a little “toddler size” cane-back chair. There was always a doll sitting in the chair which I would promptly remove and sit there myself; one of my earliest memories! I wish I knew what became of that little chair…
