Dear Paul,
I have to say that although the furniture projects are awesome, when it comes right down to it the best projects to me are when you build an actual tool! The small wooden planes you made were super cool and I especially liked that you showed the blade hardening process. But so far the absolute best project in my humble opinion was the Rebate Plane!
I doubt I’m alone when I say that many of us would like to see more tool making projects in the future! A wooden Plough Plane like the Sandusky you showed when making tongue and groove for the book case, that would be spectacular!
On the other hand, if you really don’t want to make more tools, how about you and your son making another cello? Or bring in a guest luthier and you could build a guitar together? There are just so many other possibilities besides more shelves, tables, and chairs. Don’t get me wrong, those are awesome too. But it just seems like when you branch out from the furniture pieces, your true wood working skills shine the most and it’s more fun for us to watch!
Sincerely,
Seb
(Derek Sebright)13 October 2014 at 4:54 am #119427I think I like a mix, but the plough could be good. And the bow/buck saw. Not sure the time investment in doing a video series on making a cello would be great for the average aspiring woodworker here, but as a participant in the fine arts and lover of cellos, I can’t disagree too much!
I like the balance so far. I do look forward to a bow saw series, though. Keep in mind that Paul wants to help as many people as possible to gain skill and understand how to do woodworking with hand tools and create useful pieces. If they did mostly tool and jig videos, it would remind me too much of youtube channels, where tools are the main focus and hardly anything of real value in itself is made.
I intend to make a ukulele some day, but I think even that would be out of scope for WWMC.

Dear Mr Santa Paul Claus…
I’ve been a good boy this year…. (almost)
I think Your work here, blog and at Legacy school are just wonderful.Just for comparison (if is it possible) I found a 2 years arts and crafts and recovering wood course for almost 5 000 euros – I checked the curriculum and its “very nice”, with old tools and dremmels and proxxon miniature tools as well.
So if I had the money I’ll gladly give it to your school and attend your courses in person.Well about my request.
– Joinery 101 – how to dimension according to project and the wood.
– Dimension your stock/planks according to the project. when scaling
– some thoughts about restoration -Paul’s ways off courseThanks
13 October 2014 at 2:46 pm #119437I really like every series so far. I always find myself thinking back to specific techniques demonstrated vs. the actual project.
My request: the arts and crafts Rocker or to start a dining chair stickley 302?
