I got myself an old Beaver bandsaw. I’ve spent a long time trying to sort it out but I’ve finaly got it working. It’s going to be a great help roughing out stock :). I’ve always wanted a cast iron bandsaw and saw this on Ebay. A complete impulse but but so worth it. Love old machines.
Joe, that is a beautiful machine! And looks to be in rather good shape. I too have an old cast iron band saw, made here in the States. Mine needed/needs work too. I had to replace the tires, which were dry rotted and lopsided, and the throat of the upper guide blocks needed to be replaced. I also replaced the guide blocks with “cool blocks”. If the weather ever breaks here, I will completely dismantle, remove the rust, strip the paint and repaint it. But for now it’s a nice machine for cutting shapes and such.
Happy cutting!
Now don’t try to save money on bargin blades. Get some good quality blades. They make a world of difference.
