I bet you were pretty exhausted from the travelling, Joseph! I’m planning on posting every week or two but I’ll get some more content on there and let it bed in for a while before asking it to be added to UnpluggedShop.
I’ve attached some photos of the modifications to Paul’s bench. If people want to discuss bench mods in general some more we can open another thread.
George.

It’s not a review of the course, more of a personal review of my time there, why I chose to go, what it was like, etc. If anyone has been thinking about taking an in-person woodworking course by Paul, or any other instructor, it might be useful.

11 October 2013 at 6:32 pm #19841Well done George.
Just proves you can get pointed in the right direction in a short time but hard to get a life time of experience in that time. What a great time it must have been George. I bet you and others were exhausted, mentally and physically but would not have traded the experience. This is something on my radar in the future, however it’s a big trip from where I am at, but my wife is originally from the UK…. So who knows.
13 October 2013 at 2:41 pm #19902George, I finally got around to reading your post and blog on your experience with the 9 day class at the castel.
It was a great read, thanks for sharing your thoughts and the photos. It may just drive me to get my passport in order and and plan my vacation time for next year!
13 October 2013 at 7:17 pm #19910Hi George
I am glad that you enjoyed the course, the castle workshop the surrounding countryside and coast line are truly spectacular.
As somebody who has also been on the course I can vouch for how intense it is.I completed the course in two separate stints split up by a few months. Did you find doing the 9 days in one stint too long?13 October 2013 at 10:48 pm #19914Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Glad it gives some insight into the course.
David, it’s hard to answer. I could have stayed another nine days and enjoyed it at least as much as the first nine in terms of learning, but even nine days is a long time to be away from home and I wouldn’t do a longer course because I’d get homesick.

It sure looks like you thoroughly enjoyed yourself and learned a few tricks along the way. Thank You for posting and sharing those pictures of the bench modifications.
