Found this little panel saw and I cleaned it up, applied some shellac to the handles etc. The etching on the saw shows it is a Disston, the medallion is a Disston but further up the saw it says something like Hammecher Scmeller or something? Anybody know what this is? It’s a nice little saw with really comfy handle.
Correct spelling is Hammacher Schlemmer & Co.
Here’s a link to Paul’s blog where he talks about his saw.
What you have looks really nice. Good job cleaning it up.
I like the panel saws for using around the bench or for small stock. Way handier than the long hand saws.
11 points per inch is a good size too for doing tenons and ripping stuff at the bench.
That is a darn nice saw you got lucky on this one grab it in both hands and hang on to it they are hard to come by

Hammacher Schlemmer & Co. was a high-end store in New York City. Disston made saws for them, and then added the store’s name. A great find!
I have a back saw from a hardware store that was in the City, Metropolitan Hardware Store, corner of Church and Vessey. Thats by the world trade center. I always wonder if it was made by Richardson in Newark. It has a similar handle
