Hi to you all!
My planes -except to a (50th plus) broken Stanley n 78 plane- can’t really been called planes. Its more like… devices that “almost” hold a blade in place. Lol.
BUT! Its all free,I’ve been able to work with them, and the most important I’ve been able to learn. So I’m thankful!
Yesterday i finish the recover of very old “coffin” smother and made it MY NEW “scrub”.
There’s a picture down there.
At some point, my wife went to the garage/basement and told me to get a shower and shave myself… I wonder why…
Finally the thoughts I promised: (I shave with a razor -old fashion way- and this hit me big)
“hand planning is like shaving”
1- our facial hairs are – the grain direction –
1.1- cut against the hair and your skin will tear out… like wood
2- our skin is like the wood surface
3- our razors are like the plane irons – sharp is good, dull blade and it will hurt the skin or get a cut.
4-shave hard and your neck will tell with a red spot – shave gentile and your skin/wood will come silkier.
5- in the firs years we knew nothing about shaving… after a while we get the hang of it and almost can shave with the eyes closed like Mr. Seller can plane a wooden board with his eyes blinded. Just don’t sweat.
P.S. This can work for the ladies too… just replace facial hair for the other hairs that you usually shave.
