Fellow woodworkers,
I have bought some walnut to use as the top of my coffee table. One of the boards has a knot I just could not cut around. The knot seems “stable” but has a few spots of minor checking or cracking. It doesn’t go all the way through and they are a little more than 1/16 of an inch in width.
Should I fill these with something? Two part epoxy maybe? I’d hate to have a problem in the future after so much work.
Thanks,
Kevin
I would I think it will be just fine with two part epoxy. Will probably look good too.If it’s an inch thick and the cracks 1/16 deep or its half inch thick and you’ve got an 1/8 or more deep ya know it’s hard to evaluate your piece of wood and the strength it has surely it will hold a cup of coffee without epoxy regardless. Those were all filled with epoxy on my tool chest.
