I’m so close to finishing my workbench but I’ve a bit of a mishap! I had the vise fitted and was just doing the jaw linings when I noticed that the inside jaw wasn’t at 90 degrees to the bench top. So I thought I’d try shimming it a but. Long story short I managed to break one of the the M6 coach screws which fix the stationary jaw to the apron. It was a 3 inch coach screw with about 2 inches of it now embedded in the apron / bench top. Any ideas about how I might get this out?
I really don’t won’t to have to move the vise further down the bench and redo everything!
Any ideas much appreciated.
Cheers
Bill
Thanks Brian – I was able to cut a square hole around the bolt with a 1/2″ chisel until there about 1/4″ of thread exposed. Luckily I was able to turn it with a pair of pliers to remove it. Fitted another one (carefully) and the vise is installed and my bench is finished.
Cheers
Bill
