I can’t believe I did this! I was taking every precaution to not only mark my face side, but also my top and left/right on every board. But when dry fitting the sides for my toolbox I noticed I cut one backwards! 🙁
Im making the tool chewt. You know that double wide pin that you saw down when citing the lid? Looking st the back of the chest, the left side is fine but I cut the right side wrong. I’m such an idiot sometimes 🙁
Is there anyway to recover without making a whole new back? Since this is for me, I don’t mind if it looks funny. It is the back after all, and it will be a good teaching reminder. But if I were to saw down the double wide pin on one side, I will most likely be ruining one pin on the other. If I mark it out the cut line is going to fall right between a tail and a pin.
Like I said, I’m OK if it looks funny. Will it still be structural? Or do I cut my losses now and remake the back panel?

17 February 2016 at 3:51 pm #134846I’m glad I asked here because I didn’t think about that option last night. was almost ready to just re cut the back and try to reuse what I could on other elements.
I’m still kicking myself over this, but I guess I have no other option. A smaller box it is.

Sigh, I simply matched the other side (upside dowm) glued it up because in the end the dovtails fitted beautifully, cut my losses and now just have silly little thin pins in the back of the box. Call it lazy, but seeing this isn’t a commission piece and I had all my panels already sized I made it work. Good luck to you
