I’m not sure about this question, since I think it could be rather silly, but… does anybody how to clean the teeth of a rasp?

I have an old hand-stiched Bedford rasp. Its teeth are clogged with old wood or varnish or whatever. I have tried with dissolvent and plastic brush, even carefully with a brass brush, but I can’t get clean teeth. I don’t want to experiment with more agressive methods that could damage the teeth.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks again.

I just cleaned a plugged fine toothed rasp that was plugged with pitch and paint. I used a product called goof off.
Soaked it for a couple minutes then brushed it with a brass brush. It cleaned up quite well.

Ok, Dean. I will try it.

    Thank you very much.
