I am thinking of making a coffee table, but I would like it to have two drawers side-by-side in place of one of the aprons. I’m not quite sure how to go about building the drawers into the base of the table though. I have a little bit of experience with making drawers, and I have made a few tables. I have not made them together yet though. Does anybody have experience with this type of project, and any recommendations on how to build the frame to except the drawers? Thank you for any help. Kevin
For a single drawer, I have often seen an H-frame attached to the aprons, perhaps 2″ wide, 1/2″ thick. On top, another rail (approx. 1/2″ x 1/2″) to guide the drawer on the sides, and a stopper on the middle section, to prevent the drawer to go in too far. I suppose, the ends of the side beams go into the aprons. I suppose, it is better to use hardwood for this framework.
