I’ve recently acquired this No. 4, and I’ve never seen one like it before. I was left to wonder if any of you here might be able to shed some light on it for me. As you might notice, it doesn’t have a patent date, but rather a patent applied for marking. Thanks for any help!

You may have a Stanley Gage ‘auto-setting’ smoothing plane Type 1.perhaps early 1920’s Here is some info

Agree with Salko, wouldn’t touch it until you’ve done your due diligence. Found this link by searching through pics, also supertools.com however i find the discriptions dont always maych up to link pics.
