I needed a mallet for chisel work so I just followed Paul’s video series. The head is a piece of crotch birch from a tree I cut down a couple of years ago, and the handle is North Indian rosewood, REALLY hard stuff.

A couple of coats of finishing oil shows off the grain. It’s almost too nice to use 😀

Looks really nice! I understand not wanting to beat up your new project … but it needs to be what it is … a big hammer!
Can I recommend that you round over the face edges? I’m thinking that if you use it on a wood project you’re going to have dings in the project.
