Hey Folks,
I have a W Tzyack Sons & Turner 12″ saw that came with a cupped plate, over driven (at toe) and loose brass back and badly in need of jointing/sharpening. I have fixed the cup, jointed and sharpened and I was wondering how to best accomplish getting the back so that it properly pinches the plate. As it stands now I can easily move the back up and down on the plate.
Sorry I can’t give any advice on that, but it seems to me I read something somewhere on the internet about how to do this. Maybe search on it.
That sounds like one heck of a saw. I hope you get it working well. Good luck.
Hi Jon
I’ve had a similar problem with mine. I don’t have access to a proper press so I just placed the spine on a block of wood and kept whacking another small block of hard wood on the ‘open’ side of the spine…
All blocks positioned length wise if you understand me.
That helps to correct a bow or uneven spine too.
just use controlled blows with a heavy hammer…
Hope this helps
Diego
