hi guys do any of you use magnetic tool bars,i use them for spanners /wrenches, metalwork files and steel rules but i’m not sure if i should use them for chisels or rasps ,as my bench is against a brick wall this seems to be the best way of keeping tools to hand any opinions i’d be greatfull thanks

Eddy if you use them for chisels, do you think this would effect the sharpening process. Just a thought 😉

I use rare earth magnets to hold my planes and chisels upright in my tool cabinet. They do not affect the sharpening process in the slightest. I inset them ever so slightly so they do not contact the metal but they still have sufficient pull.

Thanks Eddy, I don’t have many tools but they are all top quality! Having only a few also makes it easier to look after them well.

As I said, the magnets work just fine for holding them all in place. Go for it!

Man that’s a nice tool cabinet. I especially like the way the saws sit.

That’s a stunning tool cabinet and proof that sometimes less is indeed more.

I’ve got a load of R.E. magnets left over from an old project. I’ll have to remember this method when I come to build my cabinet.

Keep Calm and have a Cup of Tea
