Welcome! / Forums / General Woodworking Discussions / Marquetry
I have joined a local Marquetry Group.
As I would like to embellish some of the stuff I would like to make.
Some of the members of this group are of the highest standards anywhere in the UK perhaps the world.
They turn out truly works of art.
The sad thing is most of the members are pretty much retired. They welcomed me with open arms. I’m middle aged it’s a shame more younger people do not do this sort of thing. The members are all will to impart their knowledge.
I for one appreciate these older people and I will listen to their advice and love listening to the stories the tell.
Also at £2.50 for a 2 hour meeting just cannot be beaten.
You cannot get a pint of beer for that.
In the picture is my first tracing just got to pick some veneers.
I will attempt this at groups next meeting.
Here is the groups page if anyone is interested.

Good for you, Mark. I’d love to find a group to share woodworking with. I actually joined a woodworking club last year, but the meetings were unfortunately in a place I just couldn’t get to at rush hour. I did sit in traffic a couple times to get there and the meetings were interesting and the people were nice.
Now if I could just find something closer or more accessible. I might need to start something myself.
Have fun with your group – what a great opportunity to learn from people with so much to share.
