Great work as usual, Greg! Really impressive!
On a side note… we have a similar concept to the junk drawer over here in the UK. Some people call it the ‘man drawer’ because it’s full of old stuff we men might need. Michael McIntyre (English comedian) did a fantastic sketch about it. Watch it here – hopefully it’ll work for everyone and not just UK people: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgUpDGAIdds

3 June 2013 at 3:58 pm #13012Very nice Greg!
My wife leans towards pastel colors when she paints. I am trying to get her to try milk paint but she likes to go with what she knows and since I have never used milk paint, well…. Maybe, this will convince her to give it a try. 🙂
Also, loved the knobs. Another option might be #550 paracord tied into knots. Just another idea.
Jim4 June 2013 at 1:34 am #13021Thanks again everyone!
A little update on the color…I was a little, OK a lot, worried as I was painting it on. It looked very pink! Now that it is finished and installed into the house, it looks very nice. Would I have chosen this color without input, insistence, of the wife? Probably not. Will I use it again? Absolutely!Great job Greg,
The pink is perfect. HOT pink is what you want to avoid at all costs. 😉
Seriously, your pink color is faded enough that it complements the blonde tone of the drawers nicely. The contrasting knobs really pop that way. The project looks like a perfect introduction to drawer making.
As far as every American household having a junk drawer, ours actually has an entire junk BUFFET – with twenty drawers filled with almost anything and everything. 😮
8 June 2013 at 5:25 am #13170Looks like some Hand & Eye influence in your drawings Greg. Very nice work!
8 June 2013 at 1:57 pm #13196Thanks Steve…yep “By Hand and Eye” influence for sure. I’ve read the book twice and I’m now working on the drawing constructions.
8 June 2013 at 3:46 pm #13208My copy came in this week, I tore into it last night for a bit. It is a good read and has some nice projects in it.
8 June 2013 at 7:40 pm #13221I was going to do 1dt on the 1st drawer, 2dt on the 2nd and 3dt on the 3rd drawer, but liked the look of 1dt only and went with it. More than strong enough for these small drawers.
Hi Greg,
I’m slowly working my way through all the posts in the Projects forum. There’s so much to learn there and well worth the review if you’re new around here.
Anyway, I love this 3 drawer chest, well done. Can you tell me how you hollowed out the bottom side?
Thank you!
3 December 2013 at 6:49 pm #22971Denise, thank you. As for the chamfer/scallop on the bottom edges. I just used a rasp and kept at until lit felt good to me.
Jim…thank you and I’m glad you find my drawings useful.
