It is Meranti can be pink – reddish – brown colour and can be really soft and light but some of it can be quite dense.
Meranti is probably cheapest hardwood here in the UK.
I have enough Meranti for frame work but not for the top and shelf. I do have some Sapele , Walnut or Oak I could use.
One of Meranti’s other names it is called Philippine Mahogany also known as Lauan.
This wood is NO relation to true Mahogany.
Meranti is sort of used as a replacement timber for Mahogany.
The hieght of end frame is about 12″ the width is 9 3/4″
The long rails which I have got to cut tenons on is about 16″ long.
My shed such a mess and I do not know when I will get back to this mini sofa table.
Just done 16 hour hard day only my second day back at work and my back is killing me.
So much for breaking me in easy.
