I just bought a moulding plane because I would like to add profiles to trim I use on chests I make. I’m not familiar with moulding planes but the one I bought joins 2 moulding planes together. So I guess this plane is called a matched moulding plane? They are joined together with screws that look like if I loosen them I could adjust the plane for larger stock. One blade has a profile and the other is square like a chisel. I sharpened both blades but the plane seems to catch when I plane. I’m wondering if the square blade can’t be completely on the wood when planing. In other words, the square blade needs to be a little off of the stock leaving a rabbet. I’m posting a pic soon so this makes more sense.
