I just made a great buy of a tool cabinet on the Norwegian equivalent of e-bay. In amongst the almost unused planes was the one pictured below. It’s a wooden rebate plane that cuts at about 22.5 degrees.
Does anyone have a suggestion what this would be used for?

Just looked at one of pictures and it seemed to not square So plane may have a more specialised use.Agree with above. Lee valley link here

The housing/dado the side of book case in which the dovetail would fit into. The angle would be cut by saw by means of a jig to keep correct angle.
Here link to explain.

I’ve never come across a fillister plane before nor have I attempted sliding dovetails so maybe that’s a challenge coming up.
The previous (now deceased) owner was a wood carver, so what he was doing with this is anyone’s guess. Maybe just a tool freak like many of us!
The only remaining mystery is why the plane pictures were posted upside down??
Thanks again for the interest and support.
DavidSliding dovetails for on the ceiling of course 😉
Having been into German houses, they put the laminate floors on the ceiling 8-{ (tongue and groove ceilings are popular)therefore I suggest its a German made plane… However I’m prepared to be corrected on this 😉
