Recently, I ordered a few items from the UK *bay: a Preston spokeshave, Record cabinet scraper, Record 078 and a nice set of Marples chisels (will try to fix some breakout on handles).

The smallest chisel is bent, does anyone have experience with a situation like this? I am hesitating since I don’t want to break it or make it worse.

The sole of the 078 is curious, as there seem to be indentations, but it seems to be only the color, not the actual surface; anyone got an idea how that came to be?

Seem to have issues attaching multiple files, details will follow.

IF it’s like a bent plane iron you can probably bang it straight with a soft-headed hammer. But I would approach it with sensitivity just in case…

That discoloration on the sole of the 078 may have come from sitting for too long on nonslip rubber shelf liner. I’ve seen similar from that cause.

That’s kind of what I thought, maybe slightly damp textured material, rusted and the rust cleaned off?
