I was in the city and, of course, stopped by the Lee Valley store to pick up some odds and ends. I turns out today was the launch day for a new line of custom planes from Veritas. There are 5 plane bodies (4, 4 1/2, 5, 5 1/2 and 7), 3 standard frog angles (40, 45, 55 or you can custom order any angle between 40 and 65) , 6 totes and 2 knobs. You make your choices and they will put the plane together right on the counter in front of you. (Other than the custom angle frog, which must be specially ordered). The throat adjustment is the same as on their bevel up planes which I really like.
This looks like it is a very versatile system. The frogs are easily swapped out and not horribly expensive.
Here is a couple of links to their website.

According to the staff I talked to, these are considered a premium line. I see them more as for those who would buy Lie-Nielson than people like me.
The design and excecution were very well thought out though.
