I just won this Stanley 78 on Ebay last night. Got it for $42.38 plus shipping. It’s missing the fence and rod as well as the depth stop, but seems to be a really good deal. It should be here by next Friday. Can’t wait!

Nice! In the first picture, I saw the front of the plane was off the table and I thought it was not flat. But then I see in another picture that the iron is protruding way far out, probably causing what I saw int he first picture. This is the plane that can be used as a bullnose plane, too, right? Two positions for the iron – front for bullnose and rear for rabbet.
I hope you can get the parts to allow a fence and depth adjustment. Good luck and have fun.

According to the manual the front position is for use as a bullnose plane, yeah. I’m sure that I’ll find lots of use for it.
