Where there’s a will there’s a way. Received some shaving brush knots last week and used up some smaller bits of wood. Initially I made them of uniform geometry but they kind of looked off, don’t know how else to describe it. Took a chisel and my plane and started paring the edges randomly and unsquare so they sit at random on the shelf. Finish is thick crazy glue, basically liquid plastic turners use to finish pens. It creates a waterproof finish.
Looks good to me. I have use super glue as a finish on small projects. It works like a champ. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the information. The shaving brushes look quite beautiful.
How do you apply crazy glue to the wood? It’s the first time I see it being used as a finish… Is it sandable? Can it be polished?
Thanks,
Ricardo, the glue (Cyanoacrylate) comes in different viscosities, thin like water, medium like syrup and thick like molasses. What I did was wear one of those thin surgeons gloves and smear the medium thickness glue with a finger till it was smooth. Let it dry for an hour or two then reapply. If you want a very fine glass like finish you can sand with very fine sandpaper in between coats.
