    is it possible to flatten oilstones that have a concave centre

    FWIW- I had a couple of vintage washita stones that I flattened on a DMT Duo-Sharp Coarse/Extra-Coarse (220/325 mesh) diamond plate. Worked just fine, but harder oilstones probably flatten a lot slower.
