I’m restoring some of my grandfather’s old hand tools (he was a carpenter by trade) and I came across an old tenon saw from a brand I know nothing about “david dominicus”.
A quick search pointed me to a german website (dominicus.de) but either they don’t make woodworking tools anymore or it’s a different manufacturer that is using the same brand.
I’m curious about how old some of these tools are but I can’t find anything about this saw.
Some help would be very appreciated.
David Dominicus was a company based in Remscheid, Germany, according to https://www.holzwerken.de/museum/hersteller/dominicus.phtml
In 1987 the company was bought by “Grube KG”, a german dealer for outdoor, hunting and forestry work.
Edit:
The “dominicus.de” website uses the same web shop software and the same design (just different colours) as the grube.de site and the real world addresses show that they reside on the same street in the same town, just different numbers (38 and 40).
So I assume that “David Dominicus” is just a brand of grube.de
Hope that helps a bit…
